JJ is a retired search and rescue dog whose quiet life in the country is interrupted by a mother hen named Moosh. Two of her chicks have gone missing and she wants them back. After negotiating payment (one cheeseburger), JJ begins the job of tracking down the chicks. All clues lead straight to Vince the Funnel—37 pounds of mutt with chronic ear infections and a bad attitude.
This is the first chapter book from award-winning author Doreen Cronin. "The Trouble with Chickens" is a great read-aloud for the family and a good chapter book for independent readers second grade and up.
