Sea Lion Summer

Visit St. Louis County Library on your way to the new sea lion exhibit at the St. Louis Zoo and you'll find informational and story books about these wonderful sea mammals. St. Louis County Library children's books are bursting with knowledge, beautiful photographs, and artwork that will delight the entire family. Are seals and sea lions the same animal? "Seals" by Tom Jackson will teach you how to identify a sea lion by its external ears and ability to stand on its hind legs; true seals do not have these characteristics. "What if" by Laura Vaccaro Seeger is a new story book with vibrant color illustrations that tells the story of three playful sea lions who happen to find a beach ball one sunny day. Remember to complement your zoo visit by reading and sharing books from the St. Louis County Library.
