Danvers Blickensderfer is a little odd. He has an unusual name. His hero is the Muppet, The Great Gonzo, and he even does his own stunts trying to impersonate him. But things get even more strange for Danvers. One day he goes to sleep wishing he was a Muppet and when he wakes up, he is! At first, he’s scared and tries to keep his transformation a secret, but once everyone finds out, Danvers realizes that being a Muppet isn’t so bad after all.
This book is a lot like the Muppet movies and the TV show; humans and Muppets live together in harmony. It's a great companion to The Muppets newest movie, available on DVD. The humor is much like you would expect: silly puns mixed with higher level wit. The reading level is about 4th grade, but I would recommend it for older children, too, because of the vocabulary and comedy. It would be great to fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid because Danvers illustrates the book.
