Berenstain Bears: 50 Years and Counting

For those of us who were mere cubs when a  couple named Jan and Stan Berenstain wrote "The Big Honey Hunt" in 1962, it is hard to believe that was fifty years ago. Since then more that 250 Berenstain Bears books have been published and more than 260 million copies have been sold. With the help of the Berenstains, three generations of cubs have laughed and learned as Papa, Mama, Brother, Sister and Honey Bear experience the ups and downs of life.

St. Louis County Library's newest Berenstain Bear title is "The Berenstain Bears and Mama for Mayor."  Mama Bear decides she is tired of potholes and bumps in the road so she decides to run for the Mayor of Bear Country. Papa, Mama, Brother, Sister and even Honey Bear all pitch-in to get Mama elected. However, Mama might have gotten a little carried away with campaign promises as she finds out the morning after her victory.
