My son loves books. Often they are the first thing he asks for in the morning when he gets up, we read several throughout the day, and he runs to his room when I tell him that “it’s time to read books and go to bed.” We have several bedtime favorites, of course; books that we both find enjoyable and soothing and, thus, get read again and again. Several are children’s classics, such as “Goodnight Moon” and “Big Red Barn,” both by Margaret Wise Brown. Other favorites are well-known titles such as “Good Night, Gorilla” by Peggy Rathmann and “Llama Llama Red Pajama” by Anna Dewdney.
Some of our other favorite bedtime books you may not have heard about, though. “Dinosaur vs. Bedtime” by Bob Shea features a little dinosaur that can go up against anything –a pile of leaves, a slide, bath time. The one thing he can’t win against –bedtime. The bright illustrations and simple text make the book a lot of fun for us. Another favorite is “The Goodnight Train” by June Sobel. The book combines getting-ready-for-bed rituals like taking a bath and putting on pajamas with a journey by train. The colorful illustrations add to the story. All of these books make saying “good night” to your little one quite entertaining.
