Books About Camping

Camping is a summer tradition for many families. But maybe sleeping on the ground in the woods without running water or cell phone service isn't your cup of tea. You can still have that camping experience through these great books!

"Let's Go Camping!" by Jan Mader
This is a non-fiction book with photos of kids camping with friends and family.  It explains how to have a fun and safe time whether it's in a tent or a motor home. It includes a glossary of terms in the back and a list of other helpful books and websites.

"Maisy Goes Camping" by Lucy Cousins
The sweet little mouse, Maisy, goes camping with her friends. They all cooperate and share the tent. This book has simple text and pictures, which makes it a great choice for younger kids.

"Scare a Bear" by Kathy-Jo Wargin, illustrated by John Bendall-Brunello
In this story, a group of campers want to get a bear out of their campsite. It harder than it sounds when the bear joins in all their camp activities. The rhyming text and all-around silliness make this one fun to read aloud.
