Staff Review: "A Perfect Day" by Carin Berger

I don't know about you, but I could use a snow day! Unfortunately, those seem to be hard to come by in St. Louis. So instead, I present you with "A Perfect Day" by Carin Berger.

"It snowed
and snowed
and snowed
and snowed.

The whole world was white."

So starts the beginning to the perfect snow day, filled with the wonderful first steps in the pristine snow, skiing, snow forts, sledding, and ice skating. And of course, the perfect day ends with hot cocoa in a beautifully glowing house. Berger's collage pictures are the real treat of this book, as they evoke all the humor ("And Charlotte opened an icicle stand."), fun (my favorite is the page full of kids making snow angels), and wonder of an honest-to-goodness snow day. So if you are, like me, missing some rosy-cheeked fun this winter, check out the book and cuddle up with your little one for a delightful read. Appropriate for preschool age to first grade children (and snow-lovers of all ages!).
