Awesome Autumn Fun

With the heat this summer many of us have been gleefully anticipating autumn’s cool temperatures.  I particularly enjoy autumn because of the crop of new book titles. Below is a list of some of the newest children’s book about autumn.

Bruce Goldstone’s "Awesome Autumn" is an over-sized photo celebration of all things fall. Topics include why leaves change color, harvest time, wearing heavier clothes, migration of birds and animals, football and Thanksgiving. Not only does Goldstone provide a comprehensive look at autumn, he even includes craft activities specific to fall such as making a gourd goose. Recommended for ages 4-8.

      Eugenie Fernandes ‘ "Kitten’s Autumn" is just right for toddlers. They can easily follow kitten’s exploration of nature as the animals and plants prepare of fall. Fernandes’ art work is done with self-hardening clay, acrylic paint and mix-media collages. It almost has a 3-D look to it.  

Martha E.H.Rustad’s "Fall Weather: Cooler Temperatures" is part of a series of books all about autumn. Each title in the series includes an activity. Other titles in the series include Fall Apples, Fall Harvests, Fall Leaves and Fall Pumpkins. Recommended for ages 4-7.
